Man dies after car crash in Maghull

Police appeal for witnesses following fatal collision involving Ford Fiesta

A man has died after a collision with a black Ford Fiesta in Maghull on Tuesday, 10th February.

Emergency services rushed to Eastway, near Coniston Road, at around 7.20pm, but the pedestrian was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

A 31-year-old man from Fazakerley has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving while unfit.

He remains in police custody for questioning.

The road was reopened at around 2.50am, and investigations continue in the local area as authorities seek to inform the deceased man's next of kin.

Detective Sergeant Andy Roper from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) said: “Although someone has been arrested, we continue to appeal to anyone with information to come forward and help us establish the full circumstances of this incident.

“We are keen to speak to anyone who was travelling on Eastway, near The Frank Hornby Wetherspoon pub, around 7.20pm.

If your vehicle is fitted with a dash camera, then please get in touch so that we can check if it has captured something you may be unaware is of importance to our enquiries.”
