A man is in a critical condition after a crash in West Derby.

Merseyside Police were called just before 5:40am after reports of a collision involving a Toyota Yaris, a Peugeot 108 and a wall on Mab Lane.

The driver of the Toyota is in hospital.

Road Policing officers are looking to trace a dog walker who phoned an ambulance shortly after the incident.

Roads Policing Inspector Ian Cowell said:

"We are keen to speak with the female dog walker who was on Mab Lane at the time of the incident and called an ambulance from another person’s mobile.

"We are keen to stress that the woman is not in any trouble and did the right thing in contacting emergency services. We would like them to come forward to assist with our enquiries.

"Any information or footage you have could be vital"

"I urge the woman to please identify yourself and contact us as a matter of urgency.

"I would also appeal to anyone else who witnessed the collision on Mab Lane at 5.40am today or who was driving in the area and has any dashcam footage of what happened to contact us. Any information or footage you have could be vital to our ongoing investigation."
