Man charged in connection with Netherton knife incident

Officers have charged a man - after being called to Netherton in the early hours of yesterday morning (21 June).
The 24-year-old was arrested following reports of someone pacing up and down Glovers Lane, at its junction with St Jerome's Way, holding a kitchen knife in the street.
Officers detained the suspect, and after a search, two kitchen knives were recovered for forensic examination.
Nathael Gebre Egziabhear, of Browns Lane, Netherton has now been charged with two offences of possession of a bladed article in a public place.
Detective Inspector John Holden said: “Officers work all year round to tackle knife crime and prevent the harm it can bring to our communities.
“Through stop checks, warrants and land searches, we seek to disrupt those prepared to carry such weapons and will take robust action against anyone found to be in possession of a knife.
“We urge the public to keep being our eyes and ears and providing us with information about knife crime so that we can bring offenders to justice and protect the public from harm."
He has been remanded into custody to appear at Liverpool Magistrates Court on Monday 23 June.
