A 19-year-old man from Maghull has been arrested at Liverpool John Lennon Airport in connection with the murder of Ellis Cox.

He was detained earlier today after arriving on a flight from Spain and is currently in custody for questioning.

The arrest brings the total number detained in this case to seven, with the previously arrested individuals all released on conditional bail pending further inquiries.

Ellis Cox, who was also 19, was fatally shot on 23rd June 2024 at the Liver Industrial Estate.

Detectives continue their investigation into the shooting and are working to identify those responsible.

Detective Chief Inspector Steve McGrath said: "I hope this latest arrest shows how our investigation team remain as determined as ever to get justice for Ellis’ family and time is no barrier to our relentless pursuit of all those involved in his murder.

"Although we have now made another arrest in connection with this incident, I want to urge anyone with information to come forward."

"It has been nearly two years since Ellis was shot at the Liver Industrial Estate and his family have been forced to live without anyone facing justice.

"If you have any information whatsoever, please search your conscience and come forward. The smallest detail could be vital to our inquiries."

The investigation is ongoing as detectives continue to appeal for information.
