A man has been arrested after multiple reports of racist graffiti across terminal buildings at Liverpool John Lennon Airport.
Merseyside Police says it received 35 reports of criminal damage between December 2024 and May 2026. The graffiti was described as being both racist and anti-establishment in nature.
A 60-year-old man from the Halewood area, was detained on Thursday 21 May on suspicion of criminal damage and racially aggravated Section 5 Public Order offences.
The man is currently in custody for questioning.
Inspector Beth Blake from Merseyside Police’s Airport Policing Team said: “This has been a long-running investigation that has required a significant joint effort between Merseyside Police and Liverpool John Lennon Airport.
“Liverpool John Lennon Airport welcomes passengers from all over the globe, and graffiti of a racist nature has no place here.
“We have demonstrated that we will be relentless in targeting anyone who promotes this type of behaviour and would encourage anyone who witnesses it or has any information to contact us so we can take immediate action.”
