Liverpool nurse and skin cancer survivor urges sun safety as temperatures rise
Importance of protecting skin highlighted during heatwave
As Liverpool experiences temperatures hotter than Greece this week, nurse Annie from Liverpool is a skin cancer survivor and is advocating for increased sun safety and awareness.
Annie shares her personal experience battling skin cancer on her Instagram to emphasise the significance of sun protection and the importance of addressing skin concerns promptly.
She has created a community of patients and survivors to support each other along their journey.
With the recent heatwave heightening UV exposure risks, Annie stresses that early detection can make a substantial difference in outcomes.
She urges people to adopt proactive sun safety measures, including the use of sunscreen and wearing protective clothing, to safeguard skin health.
Through her story, Annie aims to raise awareness about skin cancer and encourages individuals to take sun protection seriously.
"If you have any concerns - go to the GP! No matter how big, or how small. People feel so stupid thinking its a little spot and doesn't look like anything. For me it looked completely different to what the rest of my skin looked liked. I waited 12 months, I shouldn't of, I should of got it seen to straight away."
Liverpool residents, soaking up the sun during this warm spell, are reminded to remain vigilant about skin health to prevent the harmful effects of overexposure.
