Charities across the Liverpool City Region are benefiting from a substantial £81,324 investment through the Jane Tomlinson Appeal's ‘Big Charity Giveaway’.

Six local charities, including Clatterbridge Cancer Charity, Liverpool Sunflowers, and Daisy Inclusive UK, have received grants of up to £15,000.

These funds are set to support targeted projects designed to offer practical assistance and foster lasting change within local communities.

Together, these organisations aid some of the region's most vulnerable populations, spanning cancer support, empowering children with additional needs, and assisting those facing bereavement.

Bobby Mageee from Liverpool Sunflowers highlighted the impact saying,

"This funding will ensure our exercise classes continue to help those needing it most, providing a safe space to meet friends and improve physically."

This funding is part of a larger initiative launched on 8th January by the Jane Tomlinson Appeal aimed at strengthening local charities across Yorkshire, the Midlands, and the Liverpool City Region.

Clatterbridge Cancer Charity has also expressed their gratitude and how essential the funding is to their research programmes:

“This research has the potential to significantly reduce the impact of secondary breast cancer on patients and their families, offering hope for better outcomes and improved quality of life. Support from the Jane Tomlinson Appeal and other amazing people in our region will help to reduce the impact of this devastating diagnosis on patients and their families and offer them the hope and healing that they need.”

Mike Tomlinson, trustee of the Appeal, emphasized the importance of backing charities that make a daily difference, noting the overwhelming demand from over 300 organisations requesting over £3 million.

In response to community needs, the funding pot increased from £250,000 to £297,000, extending its support further.

Ashley Pennington from The Hive shared how their project will assist children aged 8-12, providing personalized support to create inclusive and happy environments.

Driven by participants in Run For All events, this investment enables charities to sustain their life-changing work, ensuring vital help reaches those in need.
