Investment manager Christopher Sarofim joins Everton's ownership group

The US billionaire will become an observer on the club's board

Leading businessman Christopher Sarofim has joined Everton's ownership group.

The American, who is chairman of global investment firm Fayez Sarofim & Co, will become a board observer at the club, which was taken over by The Friedkin Group in December.

Sarofim said: "I'm delighted to have the opportunity to join the ownership group of Everton - an historic sporting institution with a very exciting future.

"I have known and admired the Friedkin family for many years and I look forward to working with Marc Watts, The Friedkin Group and everyone at Everton to help the club fulfil its huge potential on and off the pitch."

The Sarofim family are also minority owners of American football team the Houston Texans.
