Investigation launched after 38-year-old woman dies following crash in Woolton
Officers are appealing for witnesses following the fatal crash on Allerton Road on Friday night
Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman died following a road traffic collision in Woolton late on Friday night (4 September).
Officers were called to Allerton Road shortly after 11.30pm following reports that a red Nissan Juke had left the road and crashed into a brick wall.
Emergency services attended the scene, but sadly a 38-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the location.
Her family has been informed and is being supported by specially trained officers.
Sergeant Phil Everett, from Merseyside Police's Matrix Roads Policing department, said: “Our thoughts are with the family members of the woman who sadly died following the collision late last night and they are being supported by a specially trained family liaison officer.
“We are in the early stages of an investigation into this incident and it is now our priority to confirm exactly how the collision occurred.
“We know this happened late last night when many residents may have been inside their homes but if anyone saw what happened or were driving through the area just before the incident occurred then please get in touch. Similarly, if you live in the area and have doorbell footage of the incident, please contact us. You may have information or footage that could be vital to our investigation.”
A police cordon was put in place on Allerton Road while forensic investigators examined the scene. The road has since reopened in both directions.
Police are particularly keen to hear from anyone who was in the area shortly before the crash, as well as residents who may have captured the incident on doorbell cameras.
