An investigation has begun after a cyclist died in a suspected hit-and-run collision in Chester.

Cheshire Police say officers were called to reports of a collision in Hoole Bridge, Chester, at around 3.50am on Thursday 21 May.

A cyclist was found dead at the scene, and his next of kin have been informed and are supported by specialist officers.

A silver Toyota Yaris was also found, thought it's believed the driver fled the scene on foot shortly after it happened.

Sergeant Russell Sime said:“As part of our investigation into the circumstances of this tragic incident, we’re keen to hear from anyone who witnessed what happened or anyone with any dashcam or video footage which aid the investigation.

“We’re also keen to hear from anyone who may have any footage of the silver Toyota prior to the collision, or footage of anyone leaving the area immediately after the incident.”
