Police investigate HGV involvement in East Lancashire Road incident
Police are appealing for information following a fatal crash on the East Lancashire Road in Haydock.
The collision, which occurred around 11pm on 8th June, involved a motorcycle and two HGVs, leaving the rider, a man in his 40s, dead at the scene.
Emergency services responded promptly, and the man's family has been informed and is being supported by trained officers.
Two men have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and other offences related to drug use while driving.
Detective Sergeant Andy Roper from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit emphasised the importance of gathering evidence, especially dashcam footage from the area before and during the incident.
Motorists who pass through the area or use dashcams are encouraged to check for relevant footage that could help clarify the circumstances of the collision.
Both HGVs believed to be involved in the incident were towing white trailers, with one sporting a dark cab and the other a white cab with black stripes.
Anyone with information can contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit or reach out via social media or Crimestoppers.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area due to ongoing investigation work affecting traffic on the westbound carriageway.
