Extra stop and search powers in Dingle after criminal damage and threats
Police were called Isaac Street at approximately 4.55pm following to reports of males fighting in the street
A Section 60 Order has been introduced in Dingle following a disturbance yesterday (19/09).
The order, effective from 7.30pm, grants police the power to search males aged 14-25 in a designated area until 7.29pm today.
The decision followed a call to Isaac Street at approximately 4.55pm, where armed police responded to reports of males fighting in the street, during which weapons were observed.
A damaged vehicle was found nearby, and a man was arrested on suspicion of affray.
Inspector Simon Newman said: “As we continue to investigate this incident, the increased police powers aim to ensure community safety. Bringing weapons onto the streets is reckless and will not be tolerated."
Police are appealing for any witnesses with footage from CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell devices to come forward.
