Exhibition exploring stalking and harassment in Merseyside
It's told through the lenses of women who've experienced it
The first-hand experiences of women in Merseyside being stalked and harassed have been put on show in a powerful exhibition.
'Through Her Lens' is described as a 'bold, immersive and emotionally charged' exploration of stalking and harassment, told through the lenses of women who have experienced it.
Each image offers a window into the emotional, psychological and physical toll of being watched, followed and controlled.
It has been launched by Tomorrow's Women, a charity based in Birkenhead and Chester offering support to women with issues including stalking and harassment.
Kate Chadwick, from Tomorrow's Women, said:
"We've got a group of women that we support together and asked them about their experiences of being a woman, stalking and harassment, and rather than asking them to verbally explain it, we gave them cameras and it really allowed them to capture their unique experiences.
"You can see their world through their own lens. Some women might find it difficult to express themselves, maybe to write about their experiences, but seeing their experiences through their own eyes has been really powerful.
"We wanted to make the exhibition immersive. We tried to make it dark and the video that we've made shows some real-life experiences.
"It can be quite scary as a woman being followed, even getting on public transport by yourself, maybe walking in dark streets and it's trying to encapsulate those feelings.
"Rather than just saying 'we're women, we don't feel safe', its allowing people to step into shoes of women and the experiences they face."
The exhibition, timed to coincide with the 16 Days of Action campaign to call for the elimination of gender-based violence, has also been described as 'a call for action' to spark conversation about the 'urgent need' to address stalking and harassment.
