A 24-year-old man from Walton has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit the murder of Ellis Cox in Aintree.

Ellis, aged 19, was fatally shot at the Liver Industrial Estate on Sunday 23rd June 2024, and the investigation to find those responsible remains ongoing.

The recent arrest brings the total number of people held in connection with Ellis's murder to eight, with seven individuals previously released on conditional bail pending further inquiries.

Detective Inspector Steve Wilkinson said: "Our investigation continues to progress, and this man will be questioned about Ellis’ murder."

He urged anyone with information to come forward: "Although we have made this arrest, I want to urge anyone with information to come forward."

The community is being encouraged to share any knowledge, as the smallest detail might be crucial for the investigation.

Ellis's family issued a tribute earlier this year to mark what would have been his 21st birthday on Sunday, 18th January.

"Our beautiful Ellis. He was full of life. He was grateful for everything and everyone and had such big dreams. He wanted to travel, see the world and experience all life had to offer. He loved people and people loved him."

A Crimestoppers reward of up to £20,000 for information leading to a conviction remains in place until 6th April 2026.

Detective Chief Inspector Steve McGrath, the Senior Investigating Officer, offered his support to Ellis’s family: "Our determination to get justice for Ellis’ family remains as strong as ever. We continue to make inquiries as part of this ongoing investigation and would appeal to anyone with information to come forward."
