A 90-year-old man is in a critical condition after being hit by a car on Walton Hall Avenue last night.

Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage of the collision, which happened shortly after 10.25pm and involved a silver Vauxhall Corsa.

The pedestrian suffered multiple injuries and was taken to hospital.

The vehicle’s driver, a man in his 50s, stopped at the scene and is assisting officers with their investigation.

Police appeal for help to piece together what happened

Walton Hall Avenue, from Queens Drive leading away from Liverpool city centre, remains closed as forensic examinations of the scene continue.

Sergeant Phil Everett from the Roads Policing Unit said it is important to determine the circumstances of the incident.

“An elderly man is in a critical condition in hospital following this incident, and our officers are working hard to establish the full circumstances of the collision,” Everett said.

“We would like to hear from anyone who might have been driving in the area of Walton Hall Avenue at about 10.25pm on Saturday who saw any part of this incident.

“If you have dashcam, please check it in case you have captured evidence that could prove vital to our enquiries.

“If you live locally and have CCTV, please get in touch so we can review it and build an accurate picture of how this happened.”
