CCTV of four men released in hunt for Sam Rimmer's killers in Dingle
Detectives believe the group could have had a gun about an hour before the shooting
Detectives investigating the murder of a 22-year-old man shot in Dingle four years ago have released new CCTV footage of four men they want to speak to.
Merseyside Police said the group could have information about the murder of Sam Rimmer.
What the CCTV shows
The footage shows the four males next to a playground off Cockburn Street at 10.30pm on 16th August 2022.
That was around an hour and 10 minutes before Sam was shot.
Police said the footage is dark and the males are wearing face coverings.
Detectives believe they are acting suspiciously and could be in possession of a gun.
Police hope the footage will jog the memory of anyone who saw the group on that date, or who might know who they are.
What happened to Sam Rimmer
Sam was shot at around 11.40pm on Lavrock Bank, in Dingle.
Police said two electric bikes drove into the cul-de-sac and the riders fired a number of shots towards him and other males.
Sam was injured and was pronounced dead at hospital a short while later, despite the best efforts of officers and ambulance staff.
So far, 10 people have been arrested in connection with his murder, but no one has been charged.
Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to £20,000 for information that leads to the conviction of anyone involved.
Police appeal
Detective Chief Inspector Steve McGrath, the senior investigating officer, said: "This footage shows four males who we are looking to speak to in connection with Sam's murder."
He added: "I believe from viewing the footage that they are potentially in possession of a firearm and we continue to carry out extensive enquiries to find these individuals."
DCI McGrath said: "I appreciate no one is going to recognise the faces of the males by watching the CCTV, but we hope that it could jog someone's memory who knows the males by their clothing or use of the bikes in the location from around that time."
He also said: "I want to reassure them, and the wider community in Dingle, that we are still just as determined to find the people responsible for Sam's murder as we were four years ago. As part of our investigation we have made a number of arrests and received a lot of information from the public. We just need the final piece of the puzzle."
DCI McGrath said: "I'd like to take this opportunity to appeal to anyone who holds any information whatsoever to get in touch. It's not too late. We are certain that someone out there knows who is responsible and could end the family's agonising wait for answers."
