Arrest after car drives into pedestrians in Huyton
A 30-year-old's being questioned by police
A man has been arrested after a car drove into pedestrians in Huyton yesterday evening, Sunday 15 June.
Merseyside Police were called to reports of a disturbance outside the Queens Arms pub on Black Brow at around 6.20pm, where a white Ford Focus had hit a number of people.
Emergency services say a 61-year-old man was taken to hospital with a serious ankle injury.
The Ford Focus had fled the scene, which officers later located.
A 30-year-old man from Huyton has been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding, drink driving, dangerous driving, leaving the scene of a collision and attempt Section 18 assault. He remains in custody.
Police are appealing for any witnesses, CCTV and dash camera footage which may assist their investigation.
Detective Chief Inspector Louise Hooley said: “We are in the early stages of the investigation as we seek to establish the full circumstances which led to the collision.
“I would appeal to anyone who has information or witnessed the collision to please contact us.
“In addition I ask people in the area to please check your CCTV and dashcam footage to see if it may have captured a white Ford Focus to help with the investigation.”
