Armed Police sent to Wirral hospital

Police have confirmed that a man's been arrested at Arrowe Park Hospital, following an incident yesterday (Sunday 17 August).

Armed officers were sent to the site just after 4pm.

A 42-year-old man, who is formerly from Liverpool, has been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm. He remains in police custody being questioned.

In the most recent update, Merseyside Police also confirmed that no firearm had been found, but said officers were still at the scene carrying out enquiries.

The force says there is no risk to the public and that visitors can still access the hospital.
