Four arrested after 'shooting' in Litherland

Police have recovered a firearm following incident this afternoon

Armed police have been called to the Litherland area following a shooting earlier this afternoon.

Shots were reported at around 4pm in the vicinity of Fulwood Way. No injuries have been reported.

Merseyside Police say officers are working to establish the circumstances and gather evidence, with cordons and road closures in place.

Four men have been arrested on suspicion of firearms offences and taken into custody for questioning.

Police say a firearm has also been seized and will undergo forensic recovery.

The public is advised to avoid the area.
