A man in his 30s is in critical condition following a suspected assault in Dingle, which led to the arrest of two boys.

Merseyside Police say an incident took place just before 10pm last night (Saturday 8th August 2026) outside a takeaway shop on Park Road, involving a group of six males. Reports indicate that an electric bike was used during the attack.

Officers swiftly arrived to secure the scene, resulting in the arrest of a 16-year-old from Wavertree and a 14-year-old from Dingle, both on suspicion of Section 18 offences. The bike believed to be involved was also recovered.

Ongoing Investigation

The boys remain in custody for further questioning as detectives continue their inquiries. Police are maintaining a presence in the area to conduct witness interviews and to collect forensic and CCTV evidence.

Detective Inspector Gemma Ellerton commented on the situation:

"Although we have arrested two males in connection with the incident, we continue to make enquiries into what took place to ensure those involved are held to account."

She urged the public to assist the investigation:

"We understand the concern that such an incident will cause, especially given the ages of those involved and the busy area in which this occurred."

"With this I urge people in the area who saw the incident, or suspect a young person you know of having been involved, to please come forward and check any devices which may hold images or footage leading up to the assault. Any information no matter how small may help the investigation."
