A man has been jailed for four years and 10 months after throwing a full kettle of boiling water over a woman in Skegness.

Callum Arboine, 28, of Ridgedale View, Ripley, was sentenced at Lincoln Crown Court on Friday 16th October.

He was also given a six-year restraining order, which means he must not contact the victim.

Arboine had pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm at the same court on Monday 21st September.

What the court heard

The court heard Arboine threw a full kettle of boiling water over a 26-year-old woman in the lounge of an address on Gloucester Close on Monday 13th April.

Police said she fled to the nearby Tesco supermarket on Richmond Drive to escape and seek help.

The force said she suffered substantial scalds to her face and a large part of her upper body.

Police said her injuries have required multiple surgeries and skin grafts.

The search for Arboine

Police said an investigation was launched immediately to identify and find the offender.

Detectives released a Most Wanted appeal just before 9am on 17th April to help find Arboine, who they described as a key suspect.

The force said he was believed to have links to Nottingham and Derbyshire, so the search area was potentially vast.

Police said the help of the public became imperative to narrow down the search.

Arboine was arrested at 1.15pm on the same day in Skegness.

Police response

Detective Constable Rebecca Graves, who led the investigation, said: "This was a violent and wholly unacceptable attack that has had a significant emotional and physical impact on the victim. Throughout the investigation and court proceedings the victim showed immense courage and resilience, despite the challenges she faced."

She added: "This offender has demonstrated dangerous and volatile behaviour, and the custodial sentence imposed by the court helps safeguard the public while sending a clear message that serious violence will not be tolerated. We will relentlessly pursue those who commit such offences and use every power, resource, and investigative opportunity available to us to secure justice for victims and bring offenders before the courts."
