Improvements are set to begin this week on a hazardous section of the A52 near Croft, adjacent to Skegness, in a bid to enhance road safety.

Engineers from the Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership have been preparing sites for the installation of an average speed enforcement system.

This is part of a larger safety improvement effort aimed at reducing fatalities and serious injuries along the 2.5-mile stretch.

Measures include the installation of solar-powered LED road studs, repairing or replacing existing Vehicle Activated Safety Signs, and enhancing signage and road markings.

A comprehensive signing and marking assessment is also planned to identify hazards better.

Steven Batchelor, senior manager of Highways Asset Management at Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership, stated, “This section of road has seen an unacceptably high number of fatal and serious collisions in recent years, and LCC and its partners believe these measures can help to reduce the number of collisions that occur."

Councillor Michael Cheyne, Executive member for Highways, expressed his approval for the funding of the scheme, emphasising the importance of making roads as safe as possible.

Councillor Jimmy Brookes, representing Skegness South, shared his enthusiasm for the long-overdue infrastructure investment, noting the £300,000 allocated for these improvements.

Works are anticipated to be completed within the next six to twelve months.
