Two men from Norwich have been sentenced to over 10 years each behind bars for a violent home invasion in Boston, where they threatened female occupants with a knife and an imitation firearm.

Derek Brown, 61, from Kirklees, Norwich, received 12 years and nine months for robbery, along with three years concurrently for possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

Kevin Gibbs, 46, from Sherwell Road, Hellesdon, was sentenced to 11 years and two months for robbery, and also three years concurrently for the firearm charge.

Both men pleaded guilty to the offences on 12th March.

The court revealed the men, alongside an unidentified accomplice, forcibly entered a residence on Tytton Lane East in Boston around lunchtime on 30th November 2025.

They restrained two of the three occupants using cable ties, demanding property while brandishing a knife and holding what later turned out to be an imitation firearm to one victim's head.

The assailants absconded with a purse, a Rolex watch, and two mobile phones.

Prompt investigations traced their vehicle to a flat in Norfolk, where armed officers from Norfolk Police apprehended them that evening.

DC Chad Birch of Boston CID noted the gravity of the situation, stating,

"This was a particularly terrifying ordeal in which the victims genuinely feared for their lives."

Birch condemned the violence and emphasized the police’s commitment to accountability:

"Such acts of violence and intimidation are completely unacceptable... We remain absolutely committed to ensuring that those who commit such offences are brought before the courts and are held fully accountable for their actions."

The men have been in custody since their arrest.
