Humberside Police: No fatal stabbings in Scunthorpe

Officers are clarifying speculation on social media

Police say that they've been made aware of speculation on social media around recent incidents in Scunthorpe, suggesting three fatal stabbings in the area over the past three weeks.

Officers are confirming that there have been no fatal stabbings in Scunthorpe and would like to offer context to these reported incidents.

On Saturday, 27 September 2025 at 11.20am on West Street in Scunthorpe, officers were in attendance, after the discovery of a man’s body. The circumstances of his death are not thought to be suspicious and his family is being supported by officers.

In a separate incident, on Sunday, 28 September 2025 officers were called to reports of an altercation outside a property on Lindsey Street in Scunthorpe, where it was alleged that a group of two men and two women armed with knives and a bat assaulted a man. Officers were immediately deployed and a man and a woman were arrested at a property on Rowland Road, Scunthorpe.

A 40-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of robbery and further arrested on suspicion of obstructing or resisting a constable in the execution of their duty. She has since been released without charge. A 43-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent.

A 43-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries, where he remains in a critical condition, but not considered life-threatening at this time.

Yesterday, Monday, 29 September, a further two people were also arrested, a 29-year-old woman and a 33-year-old man near Cottage Beck Road, Frodingham, on suspicion of wounding with intent.

Two men and a woman remain in police custody, while enquiries continue.

In a separate incident, on Tuesday, 23 September 2025, officers were called to reports of a man being stabbed on Spencer Avenue, Scunthorpe at approximately 10.10pm.

An 18-year-old from Scunthorpe and a twenty-year-old man of no fixed abode were both charged in connection with that incident, but have since been released without any further action

Police say they understand the concern regarding these incidents, but would like to clarify the misinformation currently being circulated. However, to provide reassurance, local residents can expect to see increased high-visibility patrols in the area.
