Pictures released after security guard assaulted outside Newark cinema
Police want to speak to two people following the attack outside the Odeon
Police have released pictures of two people they want to speak to after a security guard was assaulted outside a cinema in Newark.
Officers were called to the Odeon on London Road following reports that a staff member had been attacked.
The security guard had tried to move on a group of teenagers who were congregating outside the cinema when he was attacked, police said.
Two people reportedly punched the guard multiple times, leaving him with facial injuries.
The group then walked away from the injured man, at around 7.20pm on 28th August, according to Nottinghamshire Police.
Police have now released images of two people they would like to speak to as part of their investigation.
Sergeant James Skeats, of Nottinghamshire Police, described it as "a nasty and unprovoked assault on a man who was just trying to do his job when he was punched in the face".
"It really should go without saying but the violence showcased in this incident was completely unacceptable," Sergeant Skeats said.
"We're keen to get to the bottom of exactly what happened, so on that note are trying to track down the people in these two pictures, who we believe may be able to assist our investigation," Sergeant Skeats said.
"Our message to them - and to anyone who recognises them - is to let us know who they are as soon as possible," Sergeant Skeats said.
Information can be reported to police on 101, quoting the incident number, while Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
