New green energy training scheme launches across Northern Lincolnshire
Residents are being offered funded courses in skills like solar installation, EV charging and heat pumps as the region prepares for thousands of future clean energy jobs.
People across Northern Lincolnshire are being encouraged to retrain or upskill through a new funded programme focused on the growing green energy sector.
The pilot scheme is offering industry-recognised training in areas including solar panels, electric vehicle charging, heat pumps and energy efficiency.
It comes as research suggests more than 32,000 green energy and decarbonisation jobs could be created across the Humber region by 2040.
The training is being delivered by the University of Hull, GTEC, Synergy and Unyte - with some courses taking place in person at sites including Brigg Heritage Centre and CATCH in Stallingborough. Others are available online.
The programme is backed by £3 million from the Government’s Regional Skills Pilot Scheme and is aimed at helping local workers take advantage of new opportunities linked to the UK’s net zero ambitions.
Organisers say the courses could help tradespeople expand the services they offer, keep more work local and move into better-paid roles.
The scheme is open to people living in Northern Lincolnshire, or those who have worked in the area within the last two years.
