Man arrested after member of public reports suspected drug deal in Stamford

A member of public witnessed what they believed to be a drug deal taking place from a car

A 25-year-old man has been arrested after a member of the public reported what they believed to be a drug deal happening from a car in Stamford.

Officers receieved reports that a drug deal was taking place close to the shops on Green Lane on Wednesday 22 April.

Officers managed to track down the car and stopped it at a service station in Corby, Northamptonshire.

The driver was found to have snap bags including white powder and cash in the car.

He also admitted to not having a driving license or insurance, and tested positive for cocaine, failing a roadside drugs test.

He's been arrested on suspicion of:

  • possession with intent to supply
  • driving whilst over prescribed limit of drugs
  • driving whilst otherwise in accordance with licence
  • driving without insurance

He's been released under investigation and his car has been seized.
