Four schools in Lincoln are set to receive new parking restrictions following safety concerns surrounding dangerous drop-off practices.

Lincolnshire County Council has approved measures to replace double-yellow lines with no-waiting or no-loading markings to prevent perilous parking near schools.

Carlton Academy, which has seen accidents and an "excessive number of near-misses," is among the schools directly affected.

Councillor Martin Christopher, representing the area, highlighted incidents where children have been hit and emphasized the chaos caused by parents using roundabouts as loading bays.

He supported the restrictions, stating they would provide clarity and empower enforcement teams.

Approved restrictions will cover parts of Carlton Boulevard and Venables Way during peak drop-off and pick-up times from Monday to Friday.

Similar interventions will occur near schools on Broad Lane in Moulton, Gipsey Bridge on Leagate Road, and Long Benington on Main Road.

Councillor Thomas Sneath noted frequent misuse of a bus lay-by near Moulton.

The measures promise to improve safety by preventing cars from blocking designated spaces for buses and pedestrian access.

The move underscores local commitment to enforcing rules aimed at safeguarding children and ensuring clear traffic flow around school areas.
