A Lincoln man has been jailed for 13 years after being found guilty of raping a child and sexual assault.

Jamie Twigg, 48, of Jellicoe Avenue was previously found guilty of eight counts of rape, including two counts of rape of a child and two counts of sexual assault.

Despite denying the offences, which took place between 2014 and 2023, he was found guilty by a jury after an eight-day trial.

He's now been jailed for 13 years, been handed a sexual harm prevention order and an indefinite restraining order.

Lincoln Crown Court heard the victim said they felt robbed of their childhood and that the impact of his crimes will last for the rest of their life.

Detective Constable Bell, who led the investigation from Lincolnshire Police’s Protecting Vulnerable Persons Unit, said: “Today’s sentence concludes an exhaustive, difficult and lengthy investigation into the abhorrent crimes committed by Jamie Twigg spanning almost a decade.

“We will not and cannot be intimidated by anyone in the pursuit of safeguarding the children of Lincolnshire."
