Two Grantham roads to get £250,000 resurfacing
Overnight works planned on Park Road and Sandcliffe Road from next week
Two residential roads in Grantham are to be resurfaced as part of a £250,000 scheme.
Lincolnshire County Council will carry out carriageway resurfacing on Park Road and Sandcliffe Road, saying the work will leave both roads with a smoother surface free from defects.
Park Road will be resurfaced along its full length, while work on Sandcliffe Road will cover the stretch between the junction with Harlaxton Road and the junction with Eskdale Road.
Work on Park Road is due to start on Monday 28th September and will involve three night shifts, running from 7pm to 6am.
Work on Sandcliffe Road is due to start on Thursday 1st October and will involve eight night shifts, running from 8pm to 6am, with no work taking place on Saturday or Sunday nights.
The council said all work is subject to suitable weather conditions.
Road closures will be in place during the works, with diversion routes signposted for motorists.
As part of the Park Road scheme, a closure will also be needed at the northern end of Castlegate to allow machinery and materials to be delivered to the site.
The council said access for residents will be maintained throughout the programme, though some delays may be encountered while work is under way.
Traffic management staff will be on site to help residents and advise motorists when needed, and local businesses have been told about the works in advance.
Councillor David East, executive member for highways at Lincolnshire County Council, said: "This is another fine example of how we are continuing to invest in residential roads across the county, and this latest scheme in Grantham will deliver a noticeable improvement for the people who use these routes every day.
"We appreciate that roadworks can cause some temporary inconvenience, but these improvements will help ensure the roads remain in good condition for years to come."
Councillor East added: "Our traffic management teams will be available throughout the scheme to help facilitate access where needed and minimise disruption as much as possible.
"We will complete the programme as quickly as possible and I'd very much like to thank residents, businesses and road users for their continued cooperation while these improvements are delivered."
