Grantham hosts medieval onion fair with historical flair
Step back in time with knights, dancers, and crafts in the Marketplace
Grantham's Marketplace steps back in time this Saturday as the Grantham Medieval Onion Fair promises a unique blend of history, entertainment, food, and crafts.
Set alongside Grantham’s monthly Farmers Market, the event will offer visitors a chance to fully immerse themselves in the medieval period, with numerous attractions that promise a fun day out for all.
Meet the Knights of Skirbeck, who will transform six stalls in the Marketplace to showcase medieval life. From an armourer and blacksmith to a tanner and candlemaker, alongside fascinating displays of medieval clothing and textiles.
For dance enthusiasts, the Rutland Renaissance Dancers will enchant the crowds with medieval performances, workshops, and even a fashion show, bringing the rhythmic elegance of history to the heart of town.
Interactive medieval-themed craft activities encourage families and history buffs alike to participate, while traders join the festivities, dressing in costume and offering onion-themed products and displays.
