Firework safety advice shared by Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue
Ensure safe celebrations this Bonfire Weekend
With Bonfire Night stretching into weekend celebrations, Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue have shared important safety advice for those considering fireworks and sparklers.
Amanda Matson is the department head for Community Fire Safety at Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue and she is urging locals to attend organised firework displays. She says: "they are manned by people that do have the ability to be able to ensure people are safe".
The Fire Service share how there are also concerns with people hosting their own firework displays and using sparklers. Amanda said: "As much as sparklers look fantastic, they can reach up to a temperature of around 1000 degrees Celsius.
"That's hot enough to cause some serious burns".
Therefore, it's crucial to supervise children, use gloves, hold sparklers at arm's length, and have a bucket of water or sand nearby.
Overall, Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue emphasises following the firework code to keep celebrations safe this Bonfire Night.
