Residents on Lincoln's Ermine Estate are set to benefit from a £104,049 Government grant after their community was selected as one of just 20 projects nationwide.

The funding comes from the new Social Housing Innovation Fund, which aims to help social housing tenants play a bigger role in shaping their communities and influencing decisions made by landlords.

The 12-month project, led by the Ermine Community Partnership and supported by City of Lincoln Council, will focus on tackling issues including digital exclusion, low participation and long-term deprivation.

Plans include photography projects, digital skills training and the creation of a new hub at Ermine Library, where residents will be supported to produce their own newsletter, website and social media content.

Children and young people will also be involved through projects exploring what life in the community means to them.

Councillor Donald Nannestad said the funding would help ensure tenants have "a real voice" in shaping their homes, neighbourhoods and local services.

The Government says lessons learned from the project could help shape future approaches to tenant engagement across the country.
