We're all being urged to think about how much we drink as fresh concerns are raised about the number of people in Lincolnshire and Newark whose alcohol intake is well above the recommended limit.

It's thought drinking has risen significantly since the pandemic

It's believed 3 in 10 people across the region are expected to take part in Dry January giving up alcohol this month.

We've been speaking to Joe Marley from Alcohol Change UK about drink levels and Dry January.

He told us: "Naturally people are thinking about New Years Resolutions - feeling better - making a change in their lives."

More than 15.5 million people across the UK as a whole are thinking about and planning to have an alcohol free January

"So many of those changes actually have a link back to alcohol and also the affects alcohol has on our lives whether that be anxiety or relations with each other - mental health and the long term health impacts as well"

"The Dry January challenge has become a really big moment for people."

"This year we know that more than 15.5 million people across the UK as a whole are thinking about and planning to have an alcohol free January and that's really really big number."

"If you're on the fence right now about whether that's something you want to do - think about what really matters to you - think about your life right now - are there things you would like to change - that you could improve?"

"Remember that reason that might keep you going through the month."

"34 per cent of people were talking about their physical health and almost a quarter of people want to improve their mental health."
