A woman from Thornton-Cleveleys has been charged with multiple offences following a series of shoplifting incidents in the area.

Abbie Hutchinson, aged 28, of Sandringham Avenue, Thornton Cleveleys, faces six counts of theft from a shop and one count of failing to surrender to police/court bail at the appointed time.

The charges relate to reports of shoplifting at four different stores in Thornton-Cleveleys, including Spar on Lawsons Road, Tesco Express at March Mill Village, Bourne Newsagents on Fleetwood Road North, and the Co-Op on Victoria Road East.

Hutchinson is accused of taking various items, such as bottles of wine, cans of cider, and food items, without attempting to pay.

She is due to appear before Lancaster Magistrates' Court on 20th October 2026.

The response is part of Operation Vulture, Lancashire Constabulary’s initiative targeting shoplifting across the county.

Backed by Lancashire's Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw, the operation employs dedicated officers for hotspot patrolling, increases visibility in targeted areas, and creates partnerships with retailers to share intelligence, understand retail crime better, and identify offenders.
