Stephen Stanley has been sentenced to two years in prison after assaulting a young toddler at an address in Preston in January 2023.

Stanley, 37, from Callon, Preston, subjected the child to forceful grip and repeated slapping, causing significant bruising to the face, bottom, lower back, and thigh.

Initially, Stanley denied responsibility and attempted to blame others for the harm inflicted, but ultimately admitted guilt and pleaded guilty to assault causing actual bodily harm at Preston Crown Court.

The victim, a young boy, has fortunately not suffered any lasting physical damage from the assault.

Detective Constable Sue Wilson of Preston Police’s Child Protection Team condemned Stanley's actions and welcomed the two-year sentence, which she believes reflects the gravity of the offence.

Wilson stated, “I hope that this little boy can now grow up surrounded by people who love and care for him.”
