Sam Quek unveils giant charity advent calendar in Chorley
Up to 20,000 children are set to benefit from gifts donated across Northwest charities.
Olympic gold medallist and TV presenter Sam Quek OBE has officially launched what is believed to be the World’s Largest Charity Advent Calendar in Chorley.
The calendar, created by Cuboid Self Storage, is located at the company’s head office in Chorley, Lancashire, and measures 34ft high, 48ft wide, and 20ft deep. Built using 24 steel shipping containers with numbered doors and festive lights, each container will be filled with gifts donated to children and families in need across the Northwest every day until Christmas.
Cuboid Self Storage says the initiative will provide enough presents to ensure thousands of children wake up to a gift on Christmas morning. Charities set to benefit from the donations include Chorley Youth Zone, Endeavour Project in Bolton, and Millbank Wellbeing in Preston.
Sam Quek said: “This is one of the nicest, most generous campaigns I’ve been involved with. To have one container full of toys and gifts for children’s charities is amazing, let alone 24 throughout the whole month of December. It’s really inspiring and a fantastic concept from the team at Cuboid.”
Cuboid Self Storage is working in partnership with Cash for Kids to run this campaign as part of their Mission Christmas 2025 programme. Their head office in Chorley has also been designated as the Lancashire HQ for the campaign, which aims to provide festive cheer to families facing financial difficulties this season.
Tim Knowles, Managing Director at FI Real Estate, said: “It’s an honour and a privilege to support families and people in need this Xmas. The whole Cuboid team that worked on this have done a great job, and I’m really proud of the result.”
Laura Charlton, Regional Charity Manager at Mission Christmas, added: “So much more than just an advent calendar, this festive campaign is a daily reminder that Christmas should be magical for every child. We genuinely believe that Cuboid has helped us to save Christmas for thousands of families across Lancashire with their incredible donation and we couldn’t be more grateful to the Cuboid team.
“For parents struggling to make ends meet – faced with the impossible task of choosing between heating the house or putting food on the table – Christmas is a luxury they just can’t afford. With this help from Cuboid Self Storage, we’re able to provide a range of gifts per child. It may sound simple, but it makes a real difference to help kids feel included, supported and celebrated over the festive season.”
Members of the public are being encouraged to contribute by visiting the giant advent calendar, registering their interest to donate gifts, or dropping off presents at Cuboid’s Chorley HQ or other Mission Christmas partner locations.
