Lancashire Police have launched an investigation, after two suspected arson attacks in the Blackpool area.

The first happened just before 10pm on Sunday night (20 July), when something alight was reportedly thrown at a house on Drummond Avenue in Blackpool.

Fortunately, no one was hurt and the property didn’t catch fire.

Around an hour later, firefighters were called to a car blaze on the driveway of a home on Summerville Avenue in Staining.

The fire had already been put out when officers arrived, and police are now working to determine whether it was started deliberately.

While detectives are keeping an open mind about whether the two incidents are linked, a dedicated team is looking into both.

Officers say people living nearby can expect to see an increased police presence as investigations continue.
