Pendle Council's recently introduced food waste recycling service has successfully diverted over 35 tonnes of waste from landfill in just three weeks.
The food waste scheme has garnered significant participation from the Pendle community, contributing to environmental benefits, including reduced greenhouse gases and the creation of energy and fertiliser from recycled waste.
Since the new service launched at the start of the month, residents have been placing their food waste caddies out weekly for easy collection.
Pendle Council expressed gratitude towards the community for engaging with the initiative, noting the positive impact already achieved.
Residents are advised to place their caddies in plain view at the front of their properties, or alongside other recycling bins if there is no front area available.
Pendle Council acknowledges the service is still in its initial phase and thanks everyone for their patience.
Residents who experience missed collections or have yet to receive their food waste caddies are encouraged to notify the council through its contact platform.
