Two men from Nelson have been sentenced to nearly 10 years in prison after being found guilty of possession of heroin and cocaine with intent to supply.

Abid Ashraf, 48, of Barkerhouse Road, received a sentence of five years and seven months, while Amir Shah, 29, of Valley Close, was sentenced to four years. Their sentencing took place at Burnley Crown Court on 13th October.

The convictions followed a warrant executed in June at an address on Regent Street, where officers discovered suspected Class A drugs, scales, and cash.

Sergeant Carl McCoy from the Pendle Prosper Partnership Team commented on the significance of the case, stating that the supply and use of Class A drugs bring about criminality and misery, impacting communities, and reaffirming their commitment to addressing drug-related offences seriously.

The arrests were part of Operation Warrior, Lancashire Police’s initiative to tackle serious and organised crime. Supported by Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw, Operation Warrior focuses on targeting individuals and gangs involved in criminal activities, including drug offences, violence, exploitation, and fraud.

The operation aims to significantly reduce the harm these crimes cause to local communities by addressing related issues alongside serious crime.
