Man suffers serious injuries after Longridge collision

A man in his 70s has suffered serious injuries after a collision near Longridge.

Lancashire police were called to the scene just after 1:30am to Preston Road, Alston, near to the junction with Pinfold Lane.

A Nissan Serena car had been in collision with a pedestrian in the carriageway.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital where he is in a serious condition.

The driver of the Serena did not stop but was located in the Preston area later on.

A 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop he is currently in custody.

Sgt Paul McCurrie of our Roads Policing Team, said: “My thoughts are very much with the injured man as he undergoes treatment and care in hospital.

“This was a collision which resulted in him receiving significant injuries and an investigation was launched immediately into the cause of it.

“As part of the investigation, we want anyone who witnessed the collision to speak to us.

“If anyone was driving in the area around the time of the collision and has dashcam footage, or if anyone living locally has CCTV/Ring doorbell which might assist us, please get in touch.”
