Zain Hussain, 20, has been jailed for 10 years and 10 months for horrific offences, including rape and violent assaults, against a young vulnerable woman in Darwen.

Hussain initially was arrested for assault after the victim reported the crime in November 2025 at Greenbank Police Station, Blackburn. During remand, she bravely disclosed further sexual offences committed by Hussain, leading to additional charges authorised by the Crown Prosecution Service.

In August 2026, Hussain was found guilty at Preston Crown Court of multiple charges, including rape, sexual assault by penetration, and non-fatal strangulation. Despite the traumatic impact on her during the trial, his victim testified courageously, fainting due to stress while in the witness box.

Appearing at Burnley Crown Court for sentencing, Hussain received a 10-year and 10-month jail term, along with an indefinite restraining order and sex offenders' register registration.

Detective Constable Dan Healey commended the victim's fortitude, highlighting the lack of remorse Hussain showed. He encourages victims of sexual offences to report and assures intensive investigation and support.
