Man charged following reports of gunshots in St Helens
No one was injured in Saturday's incident, but a BB gun and a blank-firing pistol were seized
A man has been charged following reports of gunshots in St Helens.
Emergency services were alerted to an incident in Lemon Tree Walk early yesterday morning (Saturday 18th July 2026).
Armed officers arrested a 37-year-old man from the town on suspicion of firearm offences.
Merseyside Police say both a BB gun and a blank firing pistol were recovered from the location.
Paul Keith Bennison from Royal Grove in Thatto Heath has been charged with two counts of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence along with possession of an offensive weapon in a private area.
He has been taken into custody and is due to appear at Wirral Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Monday 20th July 2026).
