Man charged with attempted murder after Padiham stabbing
A man has been charged with attempted murder after an elderly man was stabbed in Padiham.
Police were called shortly before 8am on Sunday, May 3, to reports of an assault at an address on Wordsworth Avenue. Emergency services attended and a man in his 80s was taken to hospital with a number of stab wounds. He remains in hospital in a stable condition.
A man was arrested a short time later in the Dryden Street area on suspicion of attempted murder.
Following enquiries, and after consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, Kyle Newton, 22, of Whitegate Gardens, Padiham, has been charged with attempted murder.
He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear before Blackburn Magistrates’ Court tomorrow morning.
