A 32-year-old man has been charged with 12 counts of theft following a series of shoplifting offences in Leyland.

Alex McGregor was arrested on Tuesday, 24th February, in connection with the theft of hundreds of pounds worth of items, including meat, butter, and chocolate, from various stores in the area.

He has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear at Preston Magistrates Court today, Thursday, 26th February.

Lancashire Constabulary has launched Operation Vulture in response to shoplifting incidents across the county.

The initiative involves enhanced patrolling by dedicated officers in hotspot areas, increased visibility in targeted zones, and collaboration with retailers to share intelligence and tackle retail crime.

According to Lancashire's Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw, the operation aims to gain a fuller understanding of shoplifting issues and more effectively identify offenders.
