Blackpool Football Club have officially announced the appointment of Ian Evatt as the Club’s new Head Coach, marking an emotional return for one of the Seasiders’ most celebrated former players.

Evatt, who has signed a contract running until June 2028, brings with him an impressive managerial resume and a deep connection to the Club.

The former Pool defender boasts an eye-catching record in management, with a near 50% win ratio across 350 games in charge.

His coaching career began at Barrow AFC, where he led the Bluebirds to the National League title in 2020, ending their 48-year absence from the Football League.

Evatt’s success continued at Bolton Wanderers, where he guided the Club to automatic promotion to League One and established a dynamic, attacking style of play that earned plaudits across the EFL.

Evatt’s return to Bloomfield Road is particularly poignant given his rich history in tangerine.

As a player, he was at the heart of defence, making 254 appearances for the Club over seven years and contributing ten goals.

During his time at Blackpool, he achieved two promotions, including the unforgettable Premier League campaign.

Joining Evatt in the dugout is another familiar face, Stephen Crainey, who will serve as Assistant Head Coach.

The coaching team will also include Stephen Dobbie and Steve Banks, ensuring a strong blend of experience and club heritage within the setup.
