Gregg Stevenson MBE, a former Royal Engineer Commando and Paralympic Gold Medallist, has been unveiled as the ambassador for the 2027 Cateran Yomp.

Gregg, who lost both legs in an IED explosion while serving in Afghanistan, has rebuilt his life with the support of the Army Benevolent Fund (ABF), the Army's national charity.

Following his distinguished sporting career, including a gold medal at the Paris 2024 Paralympics, Gregg now advocates for greater resilience and support among veterans and soldiers.

The Cateran Yomp is a rigorous 24-hour trek through Scotland’s Cateran Hills, challenging participants to walk continuously for up to 54 miles. It offers options for Bronze (22 miles), Silver (36 miles), and Gold (54 miles) distinctions, and is scheduled for 5th to 6th June 2027.

The annual event, launched at a reception at Edinburgh Castle, aims to raise funds for the ABF, which provides lifelong support to soldiers, veterans, and their families. Gregg is urging people across the UK to join him in the challenge and register early.

Gregg’s journey from injury to recovery, supported by the ABF’s scholarships and initiatives, highlights the significant impact of the charity's work in enhancing rehabilitation and educational access for veterans.

Opportunities for interviews with Gregg are available between 18th and 27th September. Interested parties can contact Natasha Passmore at [email protected] .
