A man from Fleetwood has been sentenced for his violent and controlling behaviour, following a dramatic series of events that began with a secretive code word text.
Jase Dawe, aged 29, was sent to prison for three years and nine months after his actions came to light in October 2025. It all started when his victim, terrified for her safety, managed to signal for help by sending a code word text to a relative.
The courage shown by the victim to come forward and provide a statement was pivotal. Despite Dawe's attempts to intimidate both her and the relative who contacted the police, justice prevailed. Dawe tried to turn the tables, accusing them of bullying him by reporting his offences.
After a trial at Blackburn Magistrates Court in July, Dawe was found guilty of several charges: assault causing actual bodily harm, intentional strangulation, controlling and coercive behaviour, three counts of beating, and two charges of criminal damage.
On 2nd September, he faced sentencing at Preston Crown Court, where he was not only jailed but also made subject to an indefinite restraining order to protect his victim.
