A father and son from Burnley have been sentenced after running a large-scale drug operation uncovered by Lancashire Police.

David Berry, 66, of Fir Street, has been jailed for ten years after pleading guilty to conspiracy to supply cocaine and amphetamine, as well as money laundering. His son, William Berry, 23, of Belmont Grove, received a 15-month suspended sentence for being concerned in the supply of cannabis and money laundering.

The pair were arrested following a tip-off in August 2024, which led officers to a property on Brunshaw Road. There, police discovered three kilos of cocaine worth £90,000. Further searches linked to David Berry uncovered a suitcase containing £250,000 in cash, a hydraulic press, and additional drugs and paraphernalia at a breakers unit in Burnley.

William was found with cannabis, £10,000 in cash, and evidence of running a Telegram channel offering drugs for sale.

Detective Sergeant Stu Peall from Lancashire Police’s East Exploitation Team said: “David Berry was a significant player in the sale of illegal drugs. This sentence reflects the seriousness of his offending.”

The investigation formed part of Operation Warrior, Lancashire Police’s ongoing crackdown on serious and organised crime.

Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw praised the outcome, saying it demonstrated the force’s “relentless approach” to dismantling criminal networks and protecting communities.
