Clean-up and support ongoing after Lancaster flat fire
Officers have been helping people collect their belongings
Work is continuing today to support people affected by a fire at Bronte House in Lancaster.
Twelve flats were damaged in the blaze at the Shakespeare Road building yesterday.
Council teams stepped in to arrange emergency overnight accommodation and are still on site as the clean-up and safety checks get underway.
Some people will be able to move back into their homes today (28 August), but temporary housing has been arranged for those who can’t yet return while repairs are carried out.
Officers have also been helping people collect their belongings and say residents’ wellbeing remains the top priority.
A full property assessment is taking place and investigations into the fire will follow.
The council has thanked everyone affected for their patience and says it is committed to supporting them throughout the process.
